Meeting Location Details!

Starting with our June 2008 monthly meeting, the Dallas/Ft. Worth User Group begins meeting at the Paladin Consulting Inc. office on the south side of 635 LBJ Freeway between Webb Chapel and Josey in the ClubCorp building. Look for the "ClubCorp" sign at the top of the building.

When you arrive you will notice there are two towers, and we meet east tower adjacent to the AMC movie theater. I suggest parking between the towers and entering the front door of the building on the west side. Once you come inside, take the elevator to the 11th floor and enter the Paladin office. We meet in a room right at the front - you won't miss us!

If you have any problems getting in (such as arriving late to find building doors locked), please contact Dave Shuck on his cell phone @ 940-231-4333 and we will send someone to help you.

The address of the office is:

Paladin Consulting, Inc.
3030 LBJ Freeway, Suite 1140
Dallas, TX 75234
Phone: (972) 783-1995

More details and a link to a map can be found here.

May meeting's 10 minutes on...

10 minutes on...
All, we are still looking for suggestions for the May meeting's "10 minutes on..." slot. In case you are new or missed this previously, this is a 10 minute spot on whatever *you* want it to be, presented by Dave Shuck. Keep in mind as you are suggesting topics, that they should be short concise topics about a specific feature, code usage, or general technology that could be amply covered in a limited time slot. That said... please add your suggestions in the comments below!

All, here is a reminder to put the next meeting on your calendars for May 13. Here is our current agenda:

Training Time:
6:30-6:45 SQL Tips, Tricks and Best Practices - Robert Froehling
6:45-7:00 Structures and Arrays - TBD

As you can see, we are looking for volunteers to cover the two intro topics: Structures and Arrays and CFQUERY. Let this serve as an invitation for you to give it a shot! Keep in mind that these are entry level training topics, and you do *not* need to be an expert to fill that spot. Just know your topic and share what you know.

Oh.... and what about that "Big Announcement" in the title? We have some big news to share that will have a large impact on our group. Make sure to join us so you can find out what it is!

April meeting's 10 minutes on...

10 minutes on...

Starting this meeting we are going to try a new 10 minute segment where Dave Shuck will cover 10 minutes on any topic related to ColdFusion web development. The idea is that the topic will be chosen by the membership by replies to this entry. For example, if someone replies to this email with "Using INI files for application settings", or "Properly locking shared scope variables", or something along those lines, Dave will look through the entries and pick one to cover for a 10 minute segment in the next monthly meeting.   As you make your suggestions, please keep the short time limit in mind!

This is our first attempt at this, so let's give it a go. What topic would you like to spend 10 minutes on.... ?

Please reply to this blog entry with your submissions.
